Kindle for Mac (2?) issue - PID

Hi all.
I'm trying to process a Kindle purchase to read on my Sony 505. I last did this in November; I'm doing everything the same now that I did then, but it's not working. The message that I get is that PID is invalid. Thinking I might have updated Kindle for Mac since November, I followed AA's instructions and deleted the Kindle and Amazon folders, reregistered, and so on - same error message.
Can anybody help me out?

i urrently have the same problem, i think the tools need an update (i have kindle 1.9.1 from the appstore)

Ask your questions where you downloaded the tools from. This is not that place.

...and like always... allow your Kindle 4 *whatever* app to auto-update at your own peril. There never has been a guarantee that an Amazon update won't completely break things (though I don't believe that's the issue here).

I have 1.8.1, which the AppStore shows as the current release. I just converted 9 recent purchases to ePub without issue.
