Kindle Touch (not 3G) just the Touch

I received a Kindle Touch for Christmas and I'm slowly figuring it out, since Kindle seems to think it's not necessary to provide a user's manual. My problem is deleting a book. I downloaded a book just to see if I was doing it correctly, and I was because I could call it up and read it. Now, however, I would like to completely and totally remove it from my Kindle and I can't seem to do it. I used the "delete" word next to the Book Title, but the book keeps appearing on my screen. Does anybody know how to get rid of this thing once and for all?

Press and hold on the title, then select move to archived items.

The user guide is on the Kindle itself, in your library. It's called "Kindle User Guide". Everything you need to know is in there.

Harry, that's my problem. It doesn't tell one how to completely delete a book from the Kindle, nor does it tell one how to put a book in the Archives.

In otherwards, the User's Manual is nearly worthless. Even the one I downloaded from the internet is nearly worthless.

I just figured that somebody should be able to explain how these things are done in a very simple way, at least that's what I hoping.

As the previous poster advised you, tap and hold the book title, then select "move to archive" from the resulting menu. That deletes it from your Kindle.

If you don't want the book to even show up in your archive, you'll have to log into your Amazon account and delete it from your library there. But then it's gone forever. They deliberately make that a bit awkward to do, because frankly, most people don't want to permanently delete their purchases.

It's easier to teach the few people who want to permanently delete a book how to do it than it would be to explain to angry millions why their accidentally wiped out purchase can't be "undeleted."

One thing that it occurs to me to add:

Just in case you aren't aware of this, books in the archive are not on your Kindle. The archive is a list of the books that are stored on Amazon's servers, that are available for you to download to your Kindle, and which are not currently on the Kindle.

Thank you very much, this is exactly what I was looking for. It don't tell you this in the Kindle User Manual that comes with the Kindle, or the on-line User Manual. I guess we are supoosed to absorb this info through osmosis or something, ha! ha!
