I need help,, ever heard of this

I recently purchesed an e reader, a Kobo Touch , I have really enjoyed it up
to this mornning. This is what happened, I turned it on and waited for it to
"boot up ", when the regular page came up I touched the icon ( book ) have
been reading. Instead of the book loading to the last page I was at
yesterday, it went to a screen ,for resetting , my heart sank when I read
it , it had an hour glass and the hour glass was doing what hour glasses
does . I couldn't stop it , tried turning it off , no go , the hour glass just kept going
After a few long minutes , of trying to stop the hour glass, it wnt to the welcome screen,,, it had been wiped
clean, along with the book I purchased and downloaded from Kobo books site.
How do I get another copy of the book I down loaded , I was only 25% through
the book . There is obviously something wrong with my e reader. It hasn't
been dropped or rough handled, it's brand new , one more thing after turning
it on , after it was "sanitized" , wiped clean , it prompted me to register
it again, like it was brand new device. There must be something wrong with it.

Does anyone here know how to get another copy, and has anybody heard of this problem happening before with a Kobo Touch.

Do a hard reset - your manual should tell you how to do this.

If that doesn't work, contact the dealer from whom you bought the unit and/or Kobo.

By the way: This post is NOT News. It will be moved.

I've never heard of that happening before but it doesn't mean it hasn't. Fortunately I've had no issues with my touch. I can help with the book though. I was distracted by my four year old as I played around with my touch Christmas day exploring the settings and the like. While distracted I managed to do a factory reset. After setting everything up again and installing the newest firmware I synced to my kobo account and my purchased books appeared. My understanding is (and someone can correct me if I'm wrong) that a copy of purchased books is maintained in the cloud (unless you delete them) and if they are listed under "I'm reading" they will download to your touch when you sync. Hope this helps.

Yes that is true for a total reset. You can also 'bring back' selected books from your account by going to said account and then BOOKMARKING the ones from the list you wish to have re-sync'ed to all your desktop apps and devices you own.

This,... for in case you delete a book by mistake/want it back after having deleted it at some point, or it corrupts in any sync session and won't open/perform properly.
