Vox Won't Connect To WiFi
Got hubby a Vox for Christmas, and wifi worked fine for 4 days. I told him to select airplane mode to save the battery, and now when I turn it back on, it says it's obtaining the ip address, but it doesn't connect. It says signal strength excellent, but evidently doesn't connect to that excellent signal. Any ideas? And please, make explanations easy enough for a brick to understand. Bricks being pretty much clueless.

You need to select that connection again and ask it to connect. If that fails, ask it to forget the connection and add it again. Then leave wifi on or you may need to do this again.

Rebooting your router can also help. I've had at least three different Android devices do this at varing times. Seems to be an IP adress release problem. For some strange reason, it does not seem to affect my Apple devices, only the Android ones (there are 5 Android devices in our house vs 2 ipod touches, so I guess the law of averages is coming into play).

Rebooting the vox is sometimes necessary. This is one of the main issues in the bug catalogue thread.
I personally would not delete and re-add the wifi entry but that's because my password is insanely painful to type in on the onscreen keyboard. :P [edit]: Sometimes even just turning wifi off and on again solves this for me. |

Ok, I turned off wifi, turned it back on, told it to forget the network (it's not password protected), and it's scanning for the network. Now I've selected the dlink, and it says it's obtaining ip address. Said it remembered ip address, and then went back to obtaining ip address. It wants a network ssid, but I don't have one. Never needed one, and it didn't need one when I first used the Vox. Don't know how to do one.

Did you try rebooting the vox? (ie: power it off and back on again)

Network ssid is the name of the network, in your case it seems to be dlink. Not sure why it would ask you for that if you've already selected the network. Did you reset the router as the other poster suggested?
[edit]: And just to be clear, powering off the vox is not the same as putting it to sleep (just have to mention this as you never know what people know or do not know). |

It asks if you want to power off, so I did that. I haven't reset the router yet. I'll try that and if that doesn't work, I guess I'll tell hubby I broke his Christmas present.

Hubby said "You broke my Christmas present." But you know, I reset the router and it's fixed. You rock!

I've had this happen a few times, just unplugging my router was the trick. After I tried all the tricks with my vox.
I've had the same thing happen at my bil's with a different brand of tablet. |

AmandaF just resolved her problem with this suggestion I gave her... perhaps you have the same issue?
Quote: We just had an issue this week while my oldest daughter was visiting with her 3 devices...it caused us to go over the number of connections the router would allow and so a couple of devices just would not connect. I went into the router's configuration and upped the quantity of ip addresses and that solved the problem. |
