where are the files (newbie question)
I have amazon ebooks on my account, I'm able to read on my Android smartphone on the online Amazon Kindle reader but I'm unable to locate them.
Where do I physically locate these files in order to, say, experiment with them in Calibre ? Thanks in advance ! |

The simplest approach is to download them to Kindle for PC or K4Mac.

Thanks. And where would kindle for Mac store these files ? I've search for ".mobi", for ".azw", for snippets of the title, for author name and not found where these files are stored on my macbook.

I don't know if it's the same on the Mac, but Kindle for PC has a dedicated folder for its books, called My Kindle Content (in the case of Windows XP it's below My Documents by default). The books have their original extension (AZW in the case of titles purchased from Amazon), but most of them have cryptic filenames, like B002RI9Q3A_EBOK.azw. You would have to load a file into Calibre, or some similar utility, to see the title, etc.
