Need Info about Registerng and other things
A very good friend of mine has purchased a Nook for me. I know I have to register it before using it. I don`t have WiFi access or 3G. I don`t have a Barnes and Noble anywhere close to where I live. Also I don`t have a credit card. I have a home computer is all. I don`t want to buy any books from B&N, or anyone else. I have all the books on my computer that I want at this time. I just wanted to put them on a reader to carry with me and read. Can anyone give me some help or ideas.....I would really appreciate it.
Thank You very much ![]() |

I don't think you need a credit card to register a Nook, do you? As for the WiFi issue, just take a walk around town. There are lots of unlocked WiFi spot to which you could connect for the registering process.

You do not have to put any credit card info in. You can register with any e-mail. I don't even think it has to be a real e-mail address, but I'm not sure about that. I think you do need internet access for registering though, so go into McDonalds, for example and get it done!

Check out the Calibre forums. You can load Calibre on your computer (free download, donations accepted) and use that to convert your existing books (if necessary) and transfer them to the nook. The "get books" menu has a link to the bn.com store, but you can also "shop" at various free book archives as well.
