delete or wastebasket?

Now that Calibre has changed the Linux method of deleting files from really deleting them to ( IMO pointless) storing them in a wastebasket for later deletion can we have an option to turn off this 'feature?'

I never use a wastebasket, if I do not need a file I delete it, if I am stupid enough to delete a file that I really wanted then it is my own fault and I pay the price as well as learning to watch what I do in future.

Feel free to setup a cronjob to automatically empty your Trash folder. Or symlink the Trash folder to /tmp. If you dont believe in the recycle bin, the proper solution is to disable your recycle bin at the OS level, as I outlined, not to cause option proliferation in calibre.

Once in a Blue Moon...

It only take Once.
This give you a chance to recover from one of those moments where the Cat helped you click on a title you wanted to delete.

If you have not noticed. There are a LOT of Cat Avatars here at MR(ow)

FYI, there are plenty of nice scripts out there that will automatically delete files in your Trash bin older than x days, or larger than x size or whatever. For example, I use autotrash myself, to empty files older than a week from my Trash bin, run via cron, once a day.
