new dictionary for k3?

I'm looking for a more complete dictionary for my K3 than the one that comes with it. My problem is that I read a lot of books with some archaic words in them that I don't understand (my modern vocabulary is pretty good). If there was a Kindle version of the OED, for example, I'd love it!

anyone have any suggestions for a better dictionary? and once I get it, how do I make that the default dictionary?

Would you really be willing to pay £750 - about $1200 - for the OED? That's what it costs in book form!

Are you using the British English dictionary on the Kindle? I find that it's excellent for archaic words. I read a great many 18th and 19th century novels, and I can't recall a case where it's not found a word that I've looked up.

I broke down and called Kindle help - it turns out that, from the Settings menu, I had to push Menu again, and found it there.

this dictionary is a little better, but is still not finding some of the archaic words i need. Oh, well.

If you're willing to strip the DRM, you can use any Mobipocket dictionary. The Chambers 10th edition is available from ebooks.com.

It's 26MB or so, which is a bit bigger than the built-in Kindle one, but whether it has more archaic words, I don't know.

$33 is a bit more than I'm willing to pay for a dictionary that I'll only use rarely. but thanks for pointing it out to me.

Have you already checked out the free 1913 Noah Webster dictionary?
It contains many definitions of archaic terms. Unfortunately, it doesn't contain inflections.

Even the OED fails sometimes on alternate spellings of archaic words. I kept track a while back, and most of the words that the Kindle dictionary didn't find weren't in the OED either.
