New To Nook
Received this as a gift would have never convinced myself to buy (even though I loved how the screen looks) it since I have a PB360. I really like this device a lot. The B&N reader is very nice. I like how it feels and the screen seems very big compared to my PB360, though the device isnt much larger. I do have a few dislikes though. I cant stand the library just not enough sorting features. The text size in list view is too large making large collections unwieldy. The library is the main issue I have (yes I understand how shelves work). The text size of the Table of Contents is too large and that it doesn't handle TOC,s levels properly. Not able to add your own fonts is weak-sauce. And the home screen only showing one book that you are reading is downright horrible. Yes I've been spoiled by the PB360.
And having been active around MobileRead for quite some time it doesn't look like B&N would/will fix these issues especially how the library treats side loaded books like red-headed step-children. So what options does that leave me. Not much I'm assuming besides rooting. While I've read plenty regarding rooting (don't know much about linux though) the STR is there an alternate library available after the root? I can live with most of this but the library is killing me. Suggestions? |

Rooting is about it. If you buy from B&N or Amazon, they are going to guide you to their own stores to buy, and give you more options with their own store bought books rather than side loaded books.
Sony is probably a great option for a better library I guess, but I haven't used one since the PRS-300. |

Well rooting it is then. Guess I'll have to wrap my head a little around Linux and figure out where to start.
