Unhappy Sony Prs T1 Crashed!

somebody help...pls.

This is my first ereader and My warranty is void as I have rooted it once..I

have never opened any system files.I just add apps.

I tried to switch it ON but it keeps on refreshing as in the video(attached below or the url)

the orange light (within the sleep button) blinks for a few seconds..and then

stops blinking although the screen continues to refresh forever..

I am very worried about this. It's been just a month since I bought it.

I reside in India and none of the Sony Service centers would know about this

device..I am fully dependent on this forum...

kindly help..

I meant the process including a micro-sd-card
in borodas post

So it shouldn't matter if the device is recognised from the PC

Sorry, the link in the first post is/was wrong, will correct it,
the one in the quoted post is correct and links to the thread for the T1,
last paragraph in first post has the instructions and the link to the recovery-data for micro-sd.

Sorry for the confusion and good luck

Don't Worry....

download this: (it doesn't matter whether you've rooted ur device or not..it basically installs the original firmware,..I'm not sure though)

http://projects.mobileread.com/reade...ard-rescue.zip

take an empty microSD card (I used a 2gb microsd and made a quick format)

Connect the reader to an external charger(used my mobile charger..output 5V I guess)

Unpack the archive on the microSD. (Press "Extract here"..don't use "Extract Files")(and I deleted the original archive)

In the card appears the folder "OS Firmware".(I made hidden files visible in the folder options)

Insert the card into the sony reader.

press the RESET (clip).

Press and HOLD the two buttons - HOME and MENU.(until the "opening book" image freezes..for 20s....I held those for a minute)

Wait until the picture is "Opening book" on the display has stabilized (ie, will not remain

the same for, say, 20 seconds).{it will seem as if the reader has frozen,but don't panic.You'll see constant blinking of the orange light(within the sleep button)}

Release the HOME button and the MENU, and wait...

After 10-15 minutes (I waited for 20 mins) press the reset and enable it.

YOUR ORIGINAL FIRMWARE WILL BE BACK..intact with all your stuff in the internal memory

Good Luck..!

I added the procedure to the wiki, see here.
anishd, could you please check, if this is correct and - if not - maybe correct the parts, which are not.

@all: Does the update-file really have to sit in a folder, or does this also work, if the file is just copied to the root of the card?

I'll add that I had my T1 get into a weird reboot loop like the OP once the day I received it. The reset button was enough to kick it out, like you say. Hasn't done it again since I received it in October.

Mine does this constantly, and I've only had it a couple of weeks. It even does it when it's just sitting there not being touched... suddenly it needs to be reset. I reckon I've reset it more than a dozen times. The people at Sony told me to do the update but of course, it's for Windows and I have Linux. It would have been great if the bloody thing had just worked!!
