is this a screen? holy cr.p!

received my first ereader today. kindle touch.

after i opened it i peeled of the plastic on top of the screen, and thought it was another film.. but it actually was the kindle telling me to connect it to a usb..

holy crap, it looks like the images/letters floats on top.. incredible, just like a book.. i love it!!

the special offers dont bother me at all. hardly notice they are there.. but would like to have a picture of the kids on the screensaver. is this possible?

also would like to know information on how much i have read the book in the start menu and how much i have read in the chapter, or how much is remaining of the chapter. the location numbers dont tell me anything.

what a great device.. was about to buy the nook simple touch because of the buttons for page turns. but i bought the right device!

custom screensavers aren't available (yet, unless something changed in the last day and I missed it). Check back occasionally; the devs are working on it. However, note that by design, the devs do not work out a way to replace the screensavers if on purpose you have the Special Offers kindle. That is part of the bargain you made for paying less for the device: you get the SO screens. Just check back once screensaver customization is working for the non-SO devices, and see what your options are. (probably pay the $ on your manage your kindle page @amazon, +a jailbreak, +an update).

as for position in a book; from inside the book, if you go to menu, at the bottom you'll see a bit of a progress bar. You'll get used to estimating where you are at. At the home screen (where you see book titles), there will also be a bit of a progress bar per title underneath each title.

yep.. can have bad outcomes though.. tried to peel the "protective conect to usb" paper off and made a first scratch in the screen while unpacking my kindle keyboard back then ^^ now with my kindle nt i was prepared

It's such a great experience feasting your eyes on your new kindle for the first time. I have had my kindle over a year now and I still think it is the best purchase I have ever made.

I tried 10 minutes to peel my Kindle 3 screen protector which there was none.

. I thought it was an ad for amazon products. I want to be shock with the new Mirasol or tritone e-ink displays when the next gen readers appear.
