Get metadata from contents of book in database?

I added a large number of books to a library. At the time of adding I set "get metadata from file name" in the options. Now can I ask calibre to go and get metadata from the contents of the book, for books that are already in the database?

PS: I just started using calibre. Excellent stuuf.

I'm curious about this, too. I know you can set the cover from the ebook. Don't know how you'd go about reading the other metadata, though.

You cannot do it in bulk. You can do it one at a time by using the edit metadata dialog (click the metadata button next to the list of formats in the top right corner)
