MARK bookmark: illuminates your book pages at night

Those ingenious minds at Yanko Design did it again, this time with the mockup of an electronic bookmark device that illuminates book pages using flexible OLEDs. And it looks really cool, too.

Quote:
FOLEDs or flexible organic light emitting diodes provide bright illumination with very little power. MARK uses a sheet of thin plastic embedded with FOLEDs to achieve a glowing effect. The intensity of the light can be controlled and the best part is if you fall asleep, you’re bookmark is already where you left off.
Best of all, its designer, Avnish Gautam, has reason to believe that something similar to his concept will hit the stores soon. And I know what you all have been asking yourself... would this also work with an E Ink device?

Thanks to MobileReader 13xforever for telling us about it!

Hey, eink is also called electronic paper, it will work.

I see only one situation why it wouldn't work. The fact that there is an elevated ledge all around the bezel of all readers. This light would be at optimal if it were right next to the surface, so its size should be cut down to the width of the interior of the screen, without losing the battery part.

I'm hoping for width and height, myself.

Come to think of it....why just a bookmark. Why not cover the whole screen. Could come as an optional extra. I must say this is an amazing idea. forget e-ink...if designed properly this can allow you to read a book in the dark without bothering others around you.

Now only if I knew where to get one tommorrow. :-)
