library book expiration

Hello! I just purchased my first kindle. When borrowing books from the library, does the expiration date depend on the internal clock of the kindle device? If I don't sync it wirelessly nor return the book, will I be able to still read the book beyond the expiration date? just curious. thank you

As far as I know that's still correct. Once you turn the wifi on the book will expire.

Edit: or Ervserver may be correct. I'm not sure. It used to be, back when we borrowed mobi files from the library and ran Kindlefix on them to make them Kindle compatible, you could read them past the expiration date as long as your wifi was off. I haven't tested it since the new lending system started.

As a Kindle 2 owner my library books only expire when I connect to wireless.

I thought it was that they'd stay on there until you turned the wi-fi on again. Maybe that's changed recently though.
