Troubleshooting Kindle keyboard 3g half bricked

I got a kindle keyboard 3g 3.1. I have done some hack on it, but it is long time ago. So I can't remember which ones I have done. I just uninstalled the screen hack and did a factory reset.

Then the I tried the update by putting the 3.3 bin file to the root. Everything looked OK, but when the kindle restarted automatically after update it do not reboot to the system but went into the update again, and fail at the middle.

The worst thing is that when the kindle restarted, I can't open any book, register the kindle ... Also I can't call the search box so can't get into the debug model.

What can I do to fix this? Sent it to amazon (it's out of warranty)? Or do the recovery from serials port?

I am guessing that it didn't update to 3.3?

The K3 required a jailbreak to install the screensaver and font hacks. I would try to uninstall the jailbreak next, and see if that helps.
