AARGH!!!

I just destroyed another Sony Reader - the usual way, too much pressure on the screen. I dropped it and managed to step on it. Screen is now all screwed up. That's the third Sony Reader that I have done this to. Two PRS-500s a few years ago and now this one. AARRGGHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, this one was a PRS-T1 in white. Well I'll be able to reuse the cover and the memory card.

I'm sorry this happened Harvey.
I felt bad when I cracked the screen on my Pocket Pro.

With your luck, you should seriously look into an accidental damage warranty. I got mine through SquareTrade for $39 (look for a promotional code for the low price) for 3 years after reading about how often people break their screens. While I normally never get extended warranties for anything, I thought it was wise in this instance since I carry it with me everywhere, increasing my odds (in my mind anyway) of breaking it at some point.

Dude you need to be more careful. If you are going to spend over a hundred dollars on a device you shouldnt be dropping them. If I was you I wouldnt let stuff like this leave your bedroom or a carpeted area. Just use the reader when in bed or on the couch. Dont walk around all over with it if you have butterfingers or manage to put to much pressure on the screen. DEFINTELY dont take it out of the house.

Seriously, you should be getting at least two years out of these devices. Not 1 year and definitely not as short a time as the t1 has been out.

As for reusing the cover. For what??? You will have to get a new device.(yes you can reuse the card) Just toss the busted T1 in the trash because its no good.

Look into a good protective case for your next one. I would wrap that thing in a silicon case and than a book cover and for extra measure wrap it up in all up in plastic wrap. It will be clumsy proof. Trust me.

Actually, it's worth keeping the broken T1 for the battery and maybe the motherboard as spare parts.

This is an awful thing to have happen to you.
When I bought my 505 I discovered that my cats were interested in it, so bought a Book Armor cover to protect it from their paws.

Commiserations.

Sony is being remaindered???

I went to J&R Music World on Park Row opposite New York City Hall to replace the PRS-T1 and they sold it to me for $99.95. The first one I bought from ABT and paid $149.99. Out for two months and dropping in price by a third? Sony has problems.

Or maybe the T1 just isn't selling due to all the bad publicity regarding its faults.

But if the new firmware fixes the problems, then I think it will sell.
