1.6M txt file talking over an hour?

This is my first conversion experience. I saved a list of 170,000 scrabble words as a txt file and then dragged it to the device button. When asked if I wanted to convert, I selected yes. I'm converting to epub.

It's been close to an hour and I'm still stuck on 1%. A file that is 1.6M doesn't seem to be particularly big. Below is the job description so far. As far as I can tell, not much has changed.

Is there a formatting issue in txt that is holding up conversion? A glitch or trick as a noobie I'm not aware of?

Thanks.

Go to TXT input in the conversion settings of the book and specify the paragraph style and formatting style, instead of leaving them as auto.

What would you recommend for those settings? I do not need anything fancy as it's just a list of words I copied from online. In the text file, I just have it as one giant paragraph. And I'm happy to leave it that way for epub as well.

Hmm...sorry...I've tried both in TXT and RTF. For both I had to choose the option to break the files to be larger than 1800K in Output or else I got a "fail" message.

Once I converted, the epub file reads fine in Calibre. I see my word list. But on my Nook, all I get is the cover and my file shows zero pages. And instead of being 1.6M, the epub is only 530kb.

Devices often cannot handle EPUB files with large blocks of text, hence the split option in EPUB output in the first place.

So should I break up my block of words?

If I choose to leave it as 260K, it fails to convert period.

Yes you need to have some structure in your document, there is no place to break up an large undifferentiated block of text.

Thanks for all your help. I was able to convert and read it on my nook after inserting paragraphs. The file kept lagging and crashing in my nook so i'm going to break up the word list into smaller epub files to see if that fixes the problems.
