Question The urge to only read e-books

I've been using an ereader for over 9 months now and I've found that I have this urge to only read digital books now. I really have nothing against paper books, I have a bunch in my collection. I just feel like I have to be all or nothing. I guess it's the feeling that I spent money on this device, so I have to make use of it. I also think I see reading as a certain kind of experience with the touch screen and buttons that is nice and different than turning pages. I really do enjoy reading on my NST, and I am also a big gadget guy so alot of the draw comes from that.

The reason this bothers me a bit though is that I actually do miss some things about paper books. I especially miss trowling book stores, especially used book stores. Digging through the books for deals and randomly finding a new read you've never heard of can be very fun. And you get to walk away with your treasures tangible in your hands. It also doesn't hurt that you can get used paperbacks for $2.

So can you relate? Do you find yourself commiting to only digital books, or do you read both? What makes you read one over the other, or is it just based on convenience?

I strongly prefer e-books. I get a bit annoyed when people send my paper books. I appreciate the gesture but really wish they would send me the electronic version. Unfortunately, what I am reading now are paper books on pregnancy, so big and heavy. But it makes no sense to rebuy them in e-book format and I love my Sister-in-Law too much to ask her to send them as e-books.

While I've largely been trying to only read ebooks, I still find myself grabbing a physical book off the shelf from time to time. I prefer to go the ebook route anymore because it's so much easier to carry it (the book) with me, either on my phone, my Kindle, Nook Color, *insert other device*, etc.

Plus, travel becomes more pleasant cause I can bring along hundreds of books and not have to lug 30 suit-cases through baggage check.

I have absolutely no desire to ever touch another physical book ever again. I will only read ebooks now.

I purchase/download most of my new or new to me books for my Kindle, but I do have a few series that I started in paper and will finish in paper.
My husband is much more of a used bookstore fan than I am, so we still visit them, but not as often as we used to. He also still purchases bargain hardcovers and paperbacks, where as I do not purchase any hardcovers (The Harry Potter series being my only exception) and fewer paperbacks than I did before.

I tend to only buy paper books if they have not been published in an e-book format, mostly older books in obscure fields like cryptozoology and Canadian history. I just keep on buying and shelving them and hoping that the ION BookSaver gets released soon...

I really favor ebooks....and it has nothing to do with feeling like I must read on my devices. It's just that I far prefer to.

It's do much easier for me to hold and handle the kindle than any paper books, so if I can't get something in ebook, I just don't read it. Not being in school any more, I have that luxury.

I just passed the two year anniversary since I acquired a Kindle 2. I have upgraded both the Kindle and added Kobos to my reading world. I have acquired books for both platforms, and have been making decent use of library ebooks as well.

I can see acquiring future paper books but only if the format warrants it. Since the vast majority of my reading is for pleasure, and that means fiction, and ebook readers are currently ideal for such material, buying anything else in paper is unlikely.

I am a solid convert to ereading!

I hear you. The only DTBs I read right now are textbooks / reference books / library books / magazines. Everything else are eBooks (esp any fiction I buy).
