The multi-touch user interface is slow. The animation on boot and the animation for the cover when you load a books are not needed. They'll just take extra battery.
I do like the amount of different font sizes though. That's quite nice. |

Yes, multi-touch looks slow (slower than the T1, except for the refresh).
It's nice that the screen doesn't flash everytime you change the page, but the video wasn't high def enough to see if there was an artifact (doesn't the new kindle flash the page every 6th page, or so?). Shame it's not on sale locally in the UK, otherwise I might try one out. Not risking buying it from France then having to pay postage back to them if something goes awry - I emailed them and they confirmed this is true. |

Because there is no place to see one in person in the US, there is no way I'd risk buying one. Bookeen may have a nice product there, but without better distribution, they may as well not be selling it at all.

That is a good point. Although it clearly has the potential for faster multi-touch.

Would anyone who has one like to comment on battery life?

The zooming in/out in the library view is backwards!

It seams to do all right. But, I'll have to wait to see how long it actually hold.
As to "multi-touch", it requires re-parsing the epub. There might be a room for improvement, but not much. And of course, it's dependent on the size and coding quality of the ePub. The T1 have a better possessor, it shows there. Quote:

Wow. This is really quite impressive.
@JSWolf: You are right about the battery of course. But as the pure speed is by far the most distinctive feature of this eReader they have to show off, naturally ![]() |

And the opening book animation is a really small percentage of the time your using the reader. I wish they had show off on the web browser and pdf though.

Yes but ePub is not really where I want it anyway. PDFs and webpages are where this would be useful.

You are wrong, Sony used at least the same type of CPU, or lower, but not "better" (they use Freescale i.MX508 CPU, Bookeen use TI OMAP3611/3621, both are Cortex A8 at around 800Mhz)
They both share the same ARM core. The only difference is sofware, and other silicium parts. |

So, is this the best e-reader out there at the moment?
Are there any better competitors on the horizon? There are a couple of colour ereaders, but I think availability is poor (outside Russia) and refresh is pretty dismal (for colour, at least). |
