Smile Which Kindle?

My son is in college and wants a kindle to use to read his accounting textbooks. Is he better off with a kindle or with a regular textbook? If you think a kindle is best, which kind of kindle should he get--the DX or the Fire or something else? He says that he wants to be able to highlight text. Which kindle can do that?

It depends on the class.

If the textbook has a lot of images and graphs in it, a textbook may still be a better bet at this point in time. If he's set on an reader and he has books like this, he may want to consider an ereader with a bigger screen, like the Pocketbook 902 or the Kindle DX. If color may be important, consider the Fire, Kobo Vox, or Nook Color.

If it's straight words, and regular 6-inch ereader may be a good substitute. Most ereaders can highlight, take notes, bookmark, etc. I have a Kobo Touch and I plan to use it for some of my classes.

What format are his textbooks in? They need to be compatable with the ereader that you choose. Allso the same for DRM.
