SD Card Stuck
Anyone seen anything like this before?
I just tried to switch MicroSD cards tonight, and after popping out the old one tried to plug in another. At first, the angle seemed wrong so I adjusted it slightly, then pushed it in... and then it went in too far, and appears to have gotten jammed deep in the slot. Anyone got any advice to get it out, before I take a pair of screwdrivers to the back of the Vox and maybe kill my warranty? |

I noticed that the other day. There's a slight gap above the card reader in the slot that's exactly right right size to jam the card in at the wrong angle. Hopefully that's fixed in later versions.
Got any tweezers in a first aid kit? |

I doubt medical tweezers would work unless they had a serrated surface on them.
I've read other postings indicating it's relatively easy to pop off the back of the Vox. In particular for using the reset button inside. No screwdriver required. |

The back pops off.... but the SD card slot is below the plastic beneath THAT, and only the battery and reset buttons are exposed.
Edit: I managed to pull the card out with a set of tweezers attached to a multitool without apparently damaging the Vox or the card too much. Will test it later, but now have it seated correctly. Edit 2: card and slot seem to work okay. I'll have to be more careful with this, buggy or not. Great screen, though. Last edited by Haesslich; 12-07-2011 at 09:00 AM. |

I think the whole Micro SD card slot area needs to be redesigned. I had a helluva time inserting the card the first time I tried. It doesn't help that I have my Vox in the Indigo book cover. I ended up pulling the device out of the cover for better access. There is so much gap around where the card is supposed to slide in that at first I missed totally and the card wanted to go in at an angle. There ought to be a guide moulded into the case with a thumbnail recess for getting the card out, just like there is in the SD card adapter. To get the card out, I've been using a knife blade, but my thumb nail also works if I'm really determined. The tweezers in a Swiss Army Knife work really well.
