This is good news for the industry, although not, of course, for those people who will be losing their jobs. The sooner that people switch to HTML5, the better.

One less bullet point for android devices. I've never missed flash on any of my iOS devices. Steve called it & as always he was a visionary.

I don't know that people will necessarily lose their jobs. Now they just need to learn something different.

Strange move from Adobe. Not quite clear why they would do it, with android having more than half of the smartphone market already.

He called that HTML5 would supplant flash, and discontinued flash support...
four or five device generations before there was much HTML5 content on the web for people who chose Apple devices over competitors who have flash support.

If you read the quote/article it says Adobe will continue to support Android and Playbook.
They also will continue to develop flash for the desktop wich still makes android flash support relevant.

What does Android's market share have to do with Adobe's future?
Do you really think Flash was a major factor in Android's mobile success? I can think of half a dozen much more important reasons.

From what I've read, Flash just wasn't great on mobile devices, period. It did work, after a fashion, which pleased the geeky set who could then say " See, Flash DOES work on mobile devices" , but didn't really give you a good user experience.
Let's just compliment Adobe for throwing in the towel and finally realizing that Flash wasn't for mobile. I look forward to what this great tech company will do with HTML 5

Well, I wouldn't extend that comment to various Google services, which are quite terrific (Gmail, Google+, Android, Google Maps... and, of course, Google itself).

I think it might have something to do with M$' announcement that they wouldn't support Flash in Windows Phone.
