Windows versus MAC

I have never owned a MAC PC and a friend of mine has one (we live in different States). Anyway, I'm trying to talk her through installing Calibre plugins. First of all since she has Calibre for MAC installed, I'm stuck at this step: After going to Preferences, And Clicking the Green Plugins tab, she did not have File type plugins!

Could someone tell me how to install plugins on a MAC so I can walk her through it?

She also said she did not have “Load plugin from File” button since I told her to skip the File type plugins and just click the “Load plugin from File” button to install the plugins?

If she is using OS X Tiger or a PowerPC Mac she is limited to calibre version 0.7.28 and those features may not exist on that version. If she is running a newer Apple computer then find out what version of calibre she has and have her go here to upgrade to a newer version.

App menu bar (top of screen) go to "Calibre" then "preferences" to get the pref pane. On the pref pane at bottom under "advanced" click on "Plugins" and you'll get the panel as shown below:

Thanks for confirming to the OP that it looks the same in OSX as it does in Windows.

Thanks for letting me know it should look the same. Her computer is only 6 months old and we just updated to the latest version. She must have done something wrong during the update. Also since I don't have and never owned a MAC, I had to take her at her word and find out if there were any differences.

What mistake, that image was going to be invaluable to the OP in talking her friend through the needed steps. Since she doesn't have OSX it helps reassure her that what she is describing to her friend is accurate. She can even refer her friend to your post for a visual aid.
