Help I Broke Calibre!
I saw a thread to convert Docx to a mobi file you must first convert it to pdf.
So went to preference's and changed my output to pdf, I highlighted the books and then Calibre crashed. So restarted it and now every time I hit the output button it crashes. I can hit the input button and make changes but touching the output button is the kiss of death ![]() Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: calibre.exe Application Version: 0.8.31.0 Application Timestamp: 4eeac627 Fault Module Name: QtGui4.dll Fault Module Version: 4.7.3.0 Fault Module Timestamp: 4dec4b47 Exception Code: c00000fd Exception Offset: 004a7387 |

As a general rule you should avoid PDF files for conversion and rarely should you ever use PDF as an intermediate format. General guidelines for converting Docx to mobi are to save the Docx as web page filtered. This creates a html file. Add the html to calibre then convert that file to mobi. Good Luck. |

In Word you choose 'Save as' (This is from memory, I have only Linux here) the in the line below the file name you can set the format.

Thank you for the help Opitzs, that worked beautifully. Let me ask one more question.
I am trying to make a cbz file readable on the kindle. My daughter likes manga. I can put it in her kindle but the text in the bubble is to small to read. How do you trim away some of the left and right margins so the picture and text will be bigger? |

I can only guess, but a cbz file is not much more than a zip file with images. I guess to trim it a little, you'd have to unzip the images files, crop them in a graphics program, e.g. The Gimp, and finally recreate the cbz. If you need to trim all images equally, you can use imagemagick or Irfanview to batch process all the files in one go.
