line spacing and margin controls

I was hoping that T1 would allow you typographic controls that are found in Kobo and Nook: line spacing and margins control. It's not that big of a problem because all the books I bought so far have margins that fills up to the left and right with the screen, which is that I like (unlike the Nook which leaves around a 1/2 in. margin around all the sides). Unfortunately, a lot of the library books are weirdly formatted and leaves 1/2 in. left and right margins.

Does anyone know why T1 can't have margin and line spacing control and Nook and Kobo do? Is it because it's using an old version of Adobe Digital Edition? FWIW, it's interesting that iBook doesn't have that either.

Does rooting the T1 and installing certain reading apps give line spacing and margin controls?

Have you tried the Menu button > Customize View > Crop Page? You can do an auto-crop or you can do a manual crop to make it whatever you want. I've been using this method to reduce margins on library books.

Oh yeah, I know about that. I have a PRS 950 which as margin cut which is probably the same thing. Seems that T1 has more control over the cropping (manual crop). The margin cut in 950 is probably same as auto-crop. Maybe the manual crop is a feature that would get me to get a T1.

I don't like using margin-cut because it still doesn't get you no margin where the text goes edge-to-edge. Also, the text gets enlarged with the margin-cut (at least in 950, don't know about crop in T1). Does the T1 enlarge the text with crop? Can you get edge-to-edge text with manual crop in T1?

What I don't understand is why a publisher sets a margin for default. Wouldn't it make more sense to set no margin for default and let a device with margin settings (Nook or Kobo) set the margin?

Cropping is improved on the T1 compared to the 950. Manual cut means that you can set it to whatever you want with adjustable on-screen edge bars so you can make it edge-to-edge. Yes, the text still enlarges with crop just like the older models. Sometimes it enlarges too much for me, and thus I prefer to use manual to set it to something in-between the default and edge-to-edge.

Does T1 remember the book's setting so that when you return to the book the margin cropping will still be there?
