Firmware Version

Just got mine today and I have been very slow and methodical in the use of it. So far no problems at all. No hang ups, etc.

So I wonder if the version of the firmware was different.

I have a Red one, btw.

Version: 1.0.00.09010

(And, btw, I have not inserted a SD card yet.)

Same version here. Had one crash that required a reset with a paperclip (couldn't even turn it off because it was constantly re-crashing without any intervention).

I suspect it is more on usage of the software that leads to crashes. Areas where testing wasn't as well defined.

That is the version I have. I'm giving it another try before I send it back. I charged it fully again & am playing around with it. But it usually takes a couple of hours before it acts up. Watch now it will work fine.

As I said before, I think getting input on usage is a bigger factor:

- Library size
- How do you turn pages (touch/buttons)
- etc

I currently only have about 100 books on my T1, and turn by buttons primarily. Only had one bad crash that forced me to use the reset button. No crashes since.

I read for hours. In the 4 hours of use last night it crashed twice on me. I started reading all the samples first & had one page turn & crash. Then it didn't happen for a couple of hours & I thought I was home free....But it flipped pages & crashed again. The last crash was on a book I bought from the Reader Store. That is all the books I had on this last one. The first T1 I had a total of 13 books on it.

I even changed how I swiped the pages thinking I was being heavy handed without realizing it. On my last 2 T1s I had no problems with using the dictionary, fonts or the Reader Store. I did on my first one.

I'm in the UK and using Version: 1.0.00.09010

I was wondering, how do we update the firmware? Connecting to a PC?

Yes I swipe. But it really is a slight flick of my thumb in the corners or sides. I did try a full swipe but it really made no difference.

I'm disappointed, but may try again in a few months and see if Sony has corrected the problem. I really do like the T1. I just wished it had worked for me. I returned both tonight. One back to Sony & the other back to Best Buy. Oh well my PRS-350 will be happy I'm using her again.

Have just noticed on the Sony Australia's Support webpage that there is a firmware download for the PRS-T1 -

" This update for Reader for PC (1.1.01.09240) addresses the following issues:

Annotations for content for users of Reader Library were not migrated to Reader for PC.

Periodicals are not selected by default for automatic sync. Users who migrate existing periodicals from Reader Library are advised to delete or remove old periodicals which they do not want synchronized to their device.

Some users with certain special characters in their password were unable to log in to their Reader Store account. "

That is not for the T!. It is for the Sony Reader for PC software that you put on your computer.

New firmware version

A Dutch Sony user has posted a picture of a T1 with a different firmware version:

Is this the first instance?
(my apologies for the oversized picture)

That's certainly newer. Hard to say if it is just extra support for EU or actual fixes.
