hey I found a solution to the sd problems. Although a bit involve works nevertheless:

tested with (which exhibited the back home problems and ebooks dissapearing):

kobo touch firwmare 1.9.12 and 1.9.11

microSD card 16GB PNY class 10

OK, so does this mean that after going through the realignment procedure, the problems (back home and disappearing books) went away under 1.9.12, or are they still there? Your post doesn't make this clear.
