So you want to work at Google? Good Luck

Over one million resumes are sent to Google every year…and only about 5,000 folks are hired. That 0.01% - 0.04% goes through at least 9 steps to get an offer and a whole committee makes the final decision

I love it. The software engineers make more than the managers. I wish more companies did this...(and also fired everyone who knows powerpoint.)

From someone who has been through the entire process:
  1. That is for software engineering contractors. Regular software engineers don't make that much, and aren't on the list.
  2. Those questions have been marked in several blogs by actual employees as not correct. I can verify that they don't ask questions like that. Engineers will get questions about code, they won't waste your and their time by checking how good you are at guesstimating.
  3. The 9 step process is accurate, but you won't see anything after the interview up 'til the place you get back your yes or no. They don't provide any feedback on why you did or didn't get hired.
  4. The interview is fun. They use lots of good problems asked by great people. It's excellent experience, and I would do it again.
