Book number in a series
Ok, some books are a series of books and using Calibre you can assign a series title and a book number. But how can you set up either Calibre or your Nook to show which is the next book in a series?
For example, Harry Potter. Those books are not called Harry Potter #1, Harry Potter #2, and Harry Potter #3. They have titles. But if you are not familiar with the names of the books you need to do a look up on Amazon or Barnes & Noble's website to see which book is the next ones in your series. |

Take a look at "plugboards" in Calibre. This is a feature which allows you to automatically prefix the title of the book with a series name and number.
Eg, if Harry Potter eBooks were legally available, which of course they aren't, you could have: Harry Potter 1 - Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone or whatever. The series name and number will be automatically written to the book when you transfer it to your reader. |

And if you are like me and need a little more help with the plugboard, it looks like this. You can copy and paste it in.

I do this but manually. Glad to know there is an easier way. My problem is if I do this to my B&N or Kobo books the cover won't show. Stripped books are fine, but I really dont want to have to do that just so the covers show up.

You can also use one of the many readers available post-root that support this feature. CoolReader, for instance, will display series info.
