Removing books from a device

Hello,

I have a Nook Touch, and I use Calibre to add books to it. I now want to use calibre to remove them from the Nook, but leave them in Calibre.

Are these the correct steps:

1) start calibre
2) plug in Nook
3) scroll to the book I want to delete, it should have a check next to, indicating it is on the Nook
4) click on the book (select it)
5) click on the down arrow next to the "Remove Books" button and pick "Remove matching books from device"

Thanks!

That is not a bad way to do things. If your library is getting large then you might want to use 'ondevice:true' in the search field to restict the display to those books that are on the nook and thus reduce the size of the list to scroll.

There is also the option of once the Nook is plugged in of switching to the Device view and following a similar procedure from that view. By its very nature the Device view is restricted to books that are on the Device. I believe that you may also get visibility there of books that were NOT loaded through Calibre which might be useful.

Which technique you prefer is a personal preference - neither way is necessarily the 'right' way.

Also, is there a quick way to always send a specific format to a devices main memory? I usually use LRF, and I do this:

1) start calibre
2) plug in the device
3) right click on the book
4) select send to main memory
5) click send specific format
6) click on "LRF"

Again, thanks in advance.

After connecting your device, a new "Device"-icon appears next to the "Library"-Icon

You could set a default behavior for the "send"-action:

-) Click on the small arrow next to the "Send to device"-icon
-) In the drop-down menu choose "Set default send to device action" -> "Send specific format to" -> "Main memory"
-) Now everytime you mark a book and press the "D" key, the "Choose Format" box appears

Simply customize the sony plugin and move lrf to the top of the list of formats to send to the device
