Textile Table Troubles

Hi calibre folks.

I'm having some issues creating tables with textile markup language. If I use the following;

Code:
|AAAAAA|BBBBBB|CCCCCC|
|D|EEE|FFFF|
|GG|HHHH|II|
and convert into ePub, calibre will create three individual tables that each have a single row. This means none of the columns are in line, breaking the table.
Also, table wide properties are ignored e.g.
Code:
table{border:1px solid black}.
does nothing at all.

Any status on whether this will be fixed or if I'm doing something wrong would be appreciated. Thanks.

Try converting with the formatting type set to textile and the paragraph type set to off. This could be due to the auto detection routines reformatting the text before handing it off for textile processing.

Ah, I should have mentioned I was using --formatting-type textile. I've tried it with --paragraph-type off and it seems to work great. Will this option have any effect on the rest of the text?

Thanks for your help!

In your case no. Setting the paragraph type to off disables calibre's paragraph type detection and reformatting. If you have a properly formatted textile document then it's best to use off. The reason it does not default to off is many people want to add simple formatting like headings without reformatting the rest of the text.
