Downloading market App and apps

I am one day new to this forum and a new owner of the pocket edge. I know this must be simple, but I am confused about downloading. As suggested, on this very helpful forum, I went to a site to download a market app to make it easier for this PE to download apps. I must have downloaded 4 items because at the top of my PE there are 4 symbols with a line under a down arrow on each. I checked my 'Applications' under settings and there is nothing under 'downloaded' listed. How do I find out what I downloaded and manage.

Do I download my apps from another computer and then put them on a USB drive to transfer? How would I do that. It's probably something simple, but I am just making it harder than it is.

If this question was asked, please direct me to the forum answer that will get me out of this frustration.

First of all make sure they downloaded properly. Swipe down on the notification bar on top, there it will tell you whether the download was successful. If so tap on it to see if it will open and install. Not knowing what "market" you have I can't advise further on that. Freewarelovers is a good source for apps. If you need more help just ask. Remember you can search this forum - up at the top. Also the sticky threads at the top are a great source of info.

Thank you

Thank you. I decided to read the whole instruction manual to get some more information. I found the pull down of the downloads by accident. My downloads were downloaded on a site called SocioMall. The files have a 'apk' format. The installs were blocked for security since it wasn't downloaded from Android Market. I will have to go there to try it out. I still have more questions, but I will see what I can do when going through the instruction manual. Thank you again.

I believe you have to check "unknown Sources" in the Applications Section of the Settings page, before you can download from other than the "Market" (I think that is the defunct Entourage Market).

Others probably know if this is necessary (at some point, I see that I DID check mine).

Steve is correct - checking unknown sources will open up the android security screen to non-market sources.

Once you've checked that (accepting non-market sources) try looking in your download folder (you can use ES File Explorer app to find it). Your downloads are probably still there and should install once you agree to go outside the market.

Welcome to MobileRead and the PE!

P.S. It's never a bad idea to read the manual!

Talking Thanks

Thanks Guys!

This is a great forum!
I did see the 'unknown' sources and wasn't sure if I should click it. I will do it and see what I can do now, since I have your expertise to rely on.
