Add Shorcuts to "Desktop"

How would I add a shortcut to the Main Screen ? I want a couple of Web
Pages to come up quicker than slogging through Google .

Open the default Android browser and Bookmark the pages (5th Icon from the Right - Star). Go back to the Home screen and Long Press any BLANK area on the Screen until the Add to Home Screen display pops up. Select Shortcut and Bookmarks. Shortcuts aren't limited to the Home Screen and can be placed on any of the other 4 available screens using the same procedure.

When you open up the default browser it opens Google. You said you want to add shortcuts to some websites using the Main (Home) Screen. If you want to add shortcuts to the Home Screen you need to go to those sites in the stock browser, Bookmark them, and then go back to the Home Screen and follow the procedure. If you are trying to change the Home Page, press the Menu button in the browser and select Settings and Set Home Page to change it.

I am at the site I want to bookmark, but I don't see how to bookmark It ?

Which browser are you using? On mine, there's a little star icon to the left of the address bar...press with stylus until it turns red and it's bookmarked.

On the stock browser the star icon is just above the address bar.

Thanks, that's very handy. You know, I've read the user's guide a couple of times and I swear none of this info is in there...or else it's just zinging over my head lol!

There are several little tricks you pick up that probably aren't in the User Guide. Ready for another cool tip you may or may not know: Long press the ROTATE button on the Home Screen or any of the available screens and you can do a few useful things like put your PE into Hibernate or even Power Off (this is how I always turn off my PE and EE).

There is no star either to the left or above or anywhere else that I can see on the
browser.
This is a new PE I just got from WOOT and has Ver 1.6 software.

Any other thoughts ??

On another note, I tried the 4th button on the left to run YouTube videos,
that didn't work either.

Ah, sorry about that...I only had 1.6 for a few hours and so I wasn't on the browser long enough to remember what it looked like.

I pulled up a couple of photos of it, though, and it appears there's the 'home' icon to the far left of the address bar and a 'book' icon to the right of the address bar. Is that what you're seeing on your browser? If so, I'll guess the 'book' icon is for bookmarking.

Tap it and you should get a screen giving you a couple of choices (besides just bookmarking the page). Once you have your bookmark, just follow Obsessed2's other instruction to press and hold where you want it to appear on the homepage and it will give you the option to choose from all of your bookmarks.

Ha! I made a journal on my eDGe titled 'Edge Tips and Shortcuts' and I'm jotting down these little tidbits of yours. It would be great to have a thread where everyone could share what they've discovered that's NOT in the user guide (I'm sure there are plenty)!

If you don't see the star (which is on a banner) you might need to press the Menu button to see the top of the browser screen. As Dian says, there is a Home icon on the left of the toolbar, and a book icon and a paperclip icon. The book icon opens the browser page on the eink screen and the paperclip attaches the page to a document you have open on the eink side.

Try hitting the menu button, then tap "More" on the bottom of the LCD screen, and then tap add bookmark (I think). Keep trying, and keep reading -- you'll get it!

Finally ... got at least this to work.
Funny, though, the Menu appears at the bottom of the screen, but at least it does
work. Took me a couple of minutes to find the Bookmark. it doesn't appear on the
screen, it's a list buried in the Browser Menu.

For anyone who may need to remove shortcuts from the desktop, long press the shortcut in question and you can drag it to the trashcan that shows up towards the bottom of the screen.
