Sorry, This may sound dumb.. But in the term "mobileread" is the "read" supposed to be past tense (like mobile-red) or future (like mobile-reed) ?
![]() Thanks ![]() |

I always read (past tense) it as mobile read (present tense) i.e. "reed"
does it matter? |

What a versatile little devil of a title................
![]() Mobile read - do it ! Mobile read - I done read it already. Mobile read - read it on wheels. Mobile read - I done read it on wheels. Mobile read - a thing you can use to hide under water and still breathe, and escape from nasty people. Last edited by carpetmojo; 09-11-2011 at 06:23 AM. |

I've always read it as mobile-red.. and it does matter because I tend to speak out the URL i'm typing! And then I'm like red-reed-red-reed

The website is about mobile reading - therefore I pronounce it as 'reed'

I also pronounce it as mobile "reed". Mobile "red" just does not sound right to me in any way, shape, or form.
As to the person who asked why it mattered: How would you direct someone to the site, verbally, if you didn't know its proper name? I talk about and recommend MobileRead all the time; I'd hate to think I was using the wrong name. Last edited by Nyssa; 09-11-2011 at 09:17 AM. Reason: Typo |

I do not know if he created it, but I believe Alexander Turcic is the Grand Poobah Master & Chief. You can ask any "green shirt" (Moderators whose names appear in green), however.

This is all very interesting, but it begs the question of how the first word is pronounced. My guess is that the Yanks say MOHble Read, while those of a more British persuasion go with moBILE (as in what the liver produces) Read. And then that dangly arrangement of Kobos and Kindles over a crib would be a Mobeel Read. The possible permutations are numerous.

And here I thought it was the name of the little mascot device: Mobi LeRead.
