Low contrast problem in pocketbook902pro

Hi,
I just received my PocketbookPro 902.
I deleted all the books that were there.
Now the problem is that if read certain PDF file (technical or any)
certain pages are displayed in a low contrast, even the main menu is in low contrast. Sometimes contrast comes back to normal again.
This is happening in all pdf's. Same page is sometimes in low contrast and sometimes in normal.
How could that be fixed?
Thanks

I've never heard of such symptoms before, but you are probably running into the corrupted database problem that everyone gets when they delete all their books using a PC. Try running Configuration->Maintenance->Clean_slate, or follow the links at the top of paola's helpful FAQ thread: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=119973

its weird but i didnt have any trouble deleting the books from 602 or 902 i wonder if it was because i did it before a certain update or after a certain update...

any way to the PDF issue. do the pdfs in question have pages with a colored or shaded back ground? that could account for the low contrast when displayed on eink. open the same pdfs on a color display to check.

Did you do it with the Files application, or with a PC hooked up via USB? It seems to me that if you delete books via the application the database is updated accordingly, but deleting books via a PC wouldn't update the database. That's just conjecture on my part, though.

I *think* this happens to me. Sometimes, after charging the device or getting books into it, the screen looks faded - it 's very similar to the effect sun exposure has on some screens and very noticeable with pdf files, as you say. If I shut down the device and let it cool during 15 minutes or so, everything gets back to normal.

Hm... strange... I've never encountered this bug before... up until two days ago, when I got one of the PB602 from the box and started the "pre-selling preparation" - deleting some unnecessary files, adding some bonus free books, etc... after it was done I noticed that one part of the screen looks like 'faded' inside books and even at the menu... I never saw such a reaction before... I was trying to get it to normal state with different methods... once it got it normal contrast for couple of minutes, and then it again became bleak and faded...
Now this device is placed to the 'quarantine' for couple of days - I'll try to turn it on again tomorrow and tell you what has changed if any...

I'd like to chime in here.
As previously mentioned on this forum, I bought two 902Pro's, one for me and one for my wife. One of them exhibits a similar symptom to the one you described: after charging it, the default screen looks faded, indeed like what you get when exposed to the sun (even though the device sits in a dark room while charging). The effect disappears after turning the device back on, or after a few screen refreshes.
The other 902Pro doesn't exhibit this behaviour. The firmware versions on both is 2.0.4, and they were bought at the same time.

I have no idea why this is, but after almost a year of usage the effect hasn't worsened, and it doesn't prevent using the device. We actually love our pocketbooks, even though some aspects of the hardware and firmware look like they were designed by amateurs. Alas, there is always room for improvement...

So is there anyway to restore it to its factory defaults?
I called the customer service, nobody responds.
This is awful, thinking of returning it. I doubt they will stand behind their warranty either
