Anybody Still Reading on a K1?

I've been demoted to a K2 recently since my K3 broke and I don't want to order a replacement until I see what Amazon offers in their rumored upcoming product announcements. I could read from my nook color but my eyes just can't take the screen right before bed and it's too hard to sync page positions between nook and kindle.

Going old school got me to wondering --- how many functional original Kindles are still kicking around?

I still have mine as a backup and loan it out frequently to people who are considering getting an ereader. I assure them that the K2 is about 75 better than the K1 when I do loan it out

Love my K1. Recently purchased a K3 for a backup device.... but still primarily read my original. Could have something to do with the comfort and familiarity of my Oberon cover.

I held out with my K1 for a long time, but the screen upgrade with a K3 was just too good to pass up. My K1 is safely stored away in its original box. I took it out a couple of weeks ago to test it, and after a recharge it worked fine.

There must be surely many thousands of them still in use. Maybe tens of thousands. When you consider how many Amazon sold, there must be a large proportion of users who are perfectly happy with it and never saw any reason to upgrade.

The replies you get to this question here in the forum won't be in any way representative, given that we are all e-reader enthusiasts and many are early adopters.

I've got one that still gets some use. The K3 has a better screen, but the original Kindle remains my favorite in terms of ergonomics.
