hello and a very ignorant Kindle question

Hello--Out of some unexamined principle regarding the superiority of the non-digital life, I resisted and deplored eBooks for years until I was given a Kindle as a gift and within about 13 minutes my life as a reader was refreshed and I have become a crusader for these things--it is simply true that one reads more with a Kindle.
I do have a question, though, and I see my question is woefully simplistic compared to the level of discussion here, so kindly be kind: if my Kindle shows 3,069 MB available space, what might that be in terms of text? Four times War and Peace? More than that?

Welcome to the group. Mobileread has a version of War and Peace available for download. Looked at its size and it's about 2 MB. So you could fit 1500 copies of War and Peace in your Kindle, or thereabouts.

If you look at the size of the downloads of books available for sale at Amazon, you'll see that the normal size of most novels is 400-800 KB.

I doubt that most people find space limitations are a problem with their Kindle.

I agree. In fact a bigger problem is stuffing the Kindle with ebooks but not organising them very well.
