Help with transfer to Kindle 3 (noob)!
I am in school and have to read notes that are posted online. The prof said we are welcome to transfer them to our e-reading devices (I have a Kindle 3), so I thought "perfect".
Here is one of the pages of notes: https://cs.senecac.on.ca/~oop244/pag...t/langu_p.html I copied it into a Word 2007 blank document and saved it as a web page, filtered. I then added it to Calibre and converted it to an epub using default settings and transferred the epub to my Kindle and had it auto-convert. It now shows up but it's not displaying properly. Specifically, there is more text per page than shows up on the screen. When I click the turn-page button, it goes from 1% to 22%, skipping a whack. When I press the go-back-a-page button, it goes to 16%, 12%, and then 1%, again skipping a mess of text. If I make the font smaller, more text shows up on the page but I still can't access most of it. Unfortunately, the Kindle does not have a scrollbar (AFAIK) and the 5 way directional pad won't let me scroll down. I'd really rather not read the notes on a computer screen. What to do? |

Try adding the raw html file to calibre then converting it to mobi. If that doesn't work compress raw html to zip first. Word and epub steps are unnecessary.

Also, don't convert to an ePub and convert that again. Convert to MOBI in the first step.

Fast responses, great community. I'll try all those, cheers!
To clarify, at no point was the file a .doc(x) file. I simply used word to create the html. But I hear what you're saying, I guess I could just save as.... from within chrome |

I don't know HTML well enough to say from my own experience, but experienced users say Word produces lots of HTML trash, and I know Word's file size is large compared to a good HTML editor. Saving out the HTML from Google Chrome seems like best bet.
Edit: Ooooo. Just noticed prior post. Send to Reader looks useful. Thanks, BrowseTheStacks ![]() Last edited by unboggling; 09-09-2011 at 10:43 AM. |

All good!
Btw, that Sendtoreader app is fantastic. I used it for sending Google Maps directions to my Kindle. Save on printer ink, it's amazing! |
