J cannot stand any more paper books

I want to report a strange phenomenon that happens to me more and more frequently: after using (for over two years) various ebook readers, I don't want anymore to read books on paper for various reasons (too small font types, too tight binding, etc.).

J arrive to the point of copying paper books that j am forced to buy with the help of a good OCR program (FineReader) to fully enjoy them with my ebook reader. This of course when j do not succeed in finding the book already in electronic format.

In few words, i don't feel the lack of the scent of printed paper.

The same happens to you? Or am j ... to be hospitalized?

I...assume that some of the j's are supposed to be I's?

But, yeah, that isn't out of the ordinary to find paper books less-than-desirable after finding yourself ensnared in the web of an ereader.

With a big fan to spread the scent of the newly printed paper books. For torture, we'll toss in a few wet ones. That should really get the smell circulating.

I still read the occasional pBook, but have found myself trying to press the edge of the paper to turn the page.

I thank all the kind persons that have written the above messages ... for their words full of hope. The disease, apparently, is not so serious.

However, they did not answer the fundamental question, which determines the severity of the disease reported: have you ever scanned a paper book for the pleasure of reading it in an electronic format? The answer for me is unfortunately yes (for the great expense of time for scanning and correcting the OCR).

J have not jet reached the point of "disrupting"(destroing the binding of) a paper book to introduce its pages easily in the fuel system of my scanner, though - I confess - I was tempted. When I will reach this point, I think I will be unrecoverable.

So the questions are TWO:

1) Have you ever scanned a paper book, to have the pleasure to read it in your ebook-reader?

2) Have you ever thought to disrupt a paper book (j mean: to destroy its binding) to copy it more easily with a scanner?

P.S.: For the nostalgic guys of printed books, who want to tie me " to the bed with only a big staple of paper books" and with a fan, j think that it will soon be marketed a perfume with a fragrance of printed paper, that they will spray on the ebook reader from time to time, to remember the old lost times. Perhaps it will be more successful of many parfumes now on the market.

I'm in that with you -- I don't like to read paper books anymore and if I can't get a book in eBook form, I do cut and scan rather than read paper. So you're not alone!

Yes to both. Several times. I have bought used books from Amazon to chop off the bindings, scan & OCR them, and format them for my ebook reader.

I can read paper reference works, like instruction manuals or dictionaries, but I can't tolerate paper for entertainment reading anymore.

If I had to OCR a book, I think I'd just go ahead and READ it. Oh the horror, the horror!

It's pretty remarkable when you think about it. Ebook readers are pretty primitive compared to other gadgets, yet they've already surpassed the venerable book (novels, anyway) for most people here. Of course we are a self-selected group, but still.
