Hi:
I just ran the check library feature and for some reason alot of my mbp and epub files are coming up as missing book format errors, I've checked the library folder and these files do exist, can anyone tell me what I can check to see why these are coming up as missing? I am using the portable version of the most recent build. Nyn |

Of course not!!!!!! They are named exactly as Calibre named them using my metaboard template, and I looked at the dates of their timestamps and most of them have not been updated in months.
Could the fact that I switched to the portable version have anything to do with it?? |

OTOH there may be (filename) case issues switching from one O/S (or file system) to another. Time for the Developer-Gurus to speak ![]() |

The only way that can happen is if files were moved/renamed around outside of calibre.

Another thought just came to me, I recently changed my sort to be alphabetical instead of sort with the As and The's included at the end of the title, could that be something that is affecting it?? Here is an example of one of the files: ![]() calibre file by nynaevelan1, on Flickr ![]() calibre library name by nynaevelan1, on Flickr ![]() calibre directory name by nynaevelan1, on Flickr |

Then I have no idea why they don't show up. check library reports a file as missing if your OS tells it that its is not present in the filesystem.

I just exported the info to the clipboard in order to import into excel and it is every mbp and epub file in my library and according to Windows Explorer they are all there.

You probably put epub and mbp into the ignore extensions field in the check library dialog.

No I don't have them in there but I just changed the # Control formatting of title and series when used in templates tweak to go from library_order back to title_sort and they disappear when I run the check library. I think I may have a conflict in my tweaks because the # Control sorting of titles and series in the library display tweak is set for strictly_alphabetical. Would this make any kind of difference??

No, those tweaks have no effect on check library. Last guess: You have a permissions issue with those files. Make sure all the files have proper permissions for your user.

I'm betting you are looking at two different folders. In the above example it shows uuid as 757, open the containing folder of the entry in your library, is it the same uuid?

Yes it is, this was not an instance of a few epubs.mbps missing it was all of them. And every one that I checked was exactly the same as in Calibre. I was able to get it fixed though I don't know what caused or what fixed it since I was trying so many different settings within Calibre.
