Was so excited to find out about Calibre, but unfortunately I am having problems. I have Windows XP, and 7zip. I downloaded Calibre with no problems, but cannot get it to install...I get a popup that says "This installation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package"
Any advice? Would really like to use Calibre...looks simple and clean to use. |

I'd suggest that you try downloading the application again. Sounds as if you could possibly have a corrupt download.

Delete your internet temporary files before you try again, or you'll just end up with the same corrupt version from the browser's cache.

Experience has also shown that disabling any download managers or accelerators and/or antivirus packages during the download helps to avoid compromising the installer. Remember to reactivate the antivirus after the download, though
![]() (While you generally, of course, shouldn't download files without antivirus active, Calibre can be considered trusted.) |

I had this same problem a while back, and tried all kinds of things without success. It did turn out to be a corrupt file. I was using my Wifi connection to download the program. When I plugged my laptop directly into the router instead of using the Wifi, I got a good download and was able to install it. It took a long time to figure that out, and I was really puzzled by it since I was able to download updates successfully via the Wifi both before that and afterwards. We were using a broadband modem for our Internet connection at that time, though, so all I can think is that we were just having a bad connection day.
