Price Field

Hi. I'm new to Calibre and tried adding books with isbn numbers. Everything worked well, but i was wondering if there was a way to get the cover price of the books. I don't see anyplace where I can do this. Thanks.

You can add it as a custom field, but I don't think there's any way of retrieving the price from an external source.

OK. Thanks. Seems like it would be a nice feature to have along with the format of the book, i.e. hardcover, paperback, etc.

What price would you use?
I have the original DT PB with a cover price of $0.95.
It is nowhere close to that these days.
Only You have a clue what you paid for the book.
Should your field include VA/GST/Sales Taxes?

Oh! What currency was used?

I just think it would be good to have a field that extracts the cover price of the book. Similar to BookCat or All My Books. As well as the format of the book. I guess maybe I'm looking in the wrong place and need to stick with BookCat. Just thought it would be nice to have ebooks and printed books in the same database. It's nice to see what the current price of a book is.

You can create Custom Columns(fields) for just about any kind of Data.
My Dead Tree Library is documented in Calibre (Add Empty Book or Add From ISBN)
Cover price is rarely inside a EBook
As I pointed out: I have DT books bought in many places where the currency is NOT US$

If you are curious about the current price, use the 'Search the Internet' plug-in (right click) on the title

Thanks for taking the time to address this issue, theducks. I was just trying out the software. It seems for my application that BookCat does a better job for me. It seems like Calibre is a GREAT program for doing ebooks. And that's what it was intended for. Print books are a secondary consideration. For people who need any info other than the basics then there are other better options. Resellers who need to have current pricing, etc. But again, that is not the purpose of this program. Thanks for your input. I appreciate the time.
