Best Buy - Nightmare Sale

Today I tried to buy an e-reader from Best Buy during their pre-Black Friday sale for their "Silver Premium" customer. If you are not a "Sliver Premium" customer don't worry, consider yourself very lucky.

To make a very long story short, I spent three hours being disconnected, transferred, being apologized to profusely, between transfers and at the end of three hours was told they couldn't place my order (their system was down) and I was advised I could try again in a couple of hours.

I don't think so

I think the typo was an inadvertant phsychological response, fbrII ......

Sliver sounds about right !

And I don't think so either.

Because you can only get the sale prices in person on Friday.

I went through the "Silver Premium" sale nightmare as well. I really wanted the Asus Transformer for $249, but they sold out in the first five minutes. The web site was loading so slow, that by the time my browser refreshed, they had a message that they were "sold out online". I never had a chance.

The web site stayed excruciatingly slow most of the day. I went ahead and purchased a Toshiba Thrive for 279$, figuring I can return it if I get the Asus at the true Black Friday sale on Friday (Thursday night). But it took a couple of hours to get the transaction to go through, I was adding a Nook Tablet to my order (not on sale) and the web site just crawled along at a snail's pace.

In any case, I think I'll be satisfied with the Thrive - it's a Christmas gift for my middle-school daughter. It actually has better specs than my iPad (1st gen) except for the storage which can be upgraded with an SD card.

I love my Thrive. I use it all the time at work and at home, making good use of all the extra ports. The picture quality is nice, as well.

Best Buy is officially off our Black Friday (Thursday Night) agenda. There are already more than a dozen people in tents in line. With only 10 guaranteed per store of the best items, we decided it wasn't worth our time.

I wouldn't do Black Friday on a bet. Not for a chance at a working Mars lander for under $100. Not for a chance at a plug-in Prius with a 1000 mile full electric range for less than $50. Not even for one night in a Cassie-and-J-Lo sandwich, all medical expenses paid, for a sawbuck. Naa-Gaa-Daa...

uh... ahem...

I mean... it really sucks when companies can't manage themselves and offer the services they say they'll offer.

Earlier and earlier each year

I didn't go out at all last year. Stayed inside and did BF online. Plan on doing the same thing this year.

I dislike how stores are also starting their Black Friday sales earlier and earlier with their midnight openings... and even a 10PM Thanksgiving day opening time for Walmart.

If this keeps up, in a couple years we'll be celebrating Black Thanksgiving Thursday
