eTextbook PDF Textbook DRM
Ok, so I just bought a shiny new eTextbook for the fall semester. Problem is, it's full of wonderful DRM preventing me from using it on another computer or a reader. Does anyone know how to strip the DRM off of this file? Thanks.

Seeing as you didn't even bother mentioning where you bought it from and what type of DRM it has, it's a bit hard to help.

I bought the book from the Primis Online eBookstore in PDF format that does not allow file transfer to any additional computers. I tried to use INEPTPDF but got an error retrieving the key. Hope this helps. Thanks.

I was referring to college textbooks you can buy on http://www.coursesmart.com/. I will purchase a copy now and post the DRM information. I would love to have these all on my KindleDX!! No heavy weight lifting!! YAY

If coursesmart textbooks would work on the DX I would buy one in a heartbeat. Until then I am saving for the 10" Ipod touch which would even be able to access Safari books online.

All the books for my classes are from Vital Source, or CourseSmart. Looks to be uncommon enough that not many are trying to break the DRM.

After some searching I think I found a workaround to the SealedMedia DRM used by iChapters.com. I have not tested these personally but hopefully I will have a chance later today.
Setup a virtual printer on a seperate Linux machine on your network and share the printer over the network. Install the printer to your windows machine and print to the virtual printer and the unsecure PDF will appear on the desktop of the Linux machine. Since I have yet to try it I can not confirm that this method will work but I will post as soon as I am able to test it out. |

i'm having the same problem with getting my textbook onto my reader. I have been able to do a print to .pdf, but i'm not likeing the way the book navigates on my reader that way (i lose all bookmarks and can't search, highlight, or look up any of the words). Anyone found a way to just strait convert it to pdf while keeping all the info?

Im considering buying some books on Coursesmart.
The format of their books is pdf and the drm is Sealedmedia and so far no one has managed to crack this drm. Is this correct? |

I would like to buy some Coursesmart versions of my hard copy textbooks (each book was already over $100+). But there is no way I will spend more money unless I can remove the DRM and be able to use the books with a PDF reader of my choosing on a Galaxy Tab 10.1. Has anyone had success with this yet? Are there any particular web forums where people specialize in this?
