How do you put Magazines in a Collection?

I just subscribed to a How do you put Magazine
but found I cannot put it into a collection.

I don't think you can.
(I haven't found a way to do it directly on the Kindle anyway.)

In theory you can do it using the collections plug-in and Calibre, but I have had difficulty getting it to work. Maybe an expert can clue us in here...

Drat. I've been meaning to ask about this, but had not got around to it.

There must be some bit of metadata that identifies it as a periodical instead of a book. Maybe that could be flipped to say it is a book?

If I buy the magazine from Fictionwise, I can put it in a collection. If I buy the same issue from Amazon, I can't. Don't know why but it's annoying.....
