best multi-language e-reader?
Hi Everyone,
I am looking for an e-reader that will allow me to read texts in multiple European languages (pdf or Gutenberg text files), while at the same time enabling me to get English translations for words I don't know as I read. In other words, this reader would need to have well-integrated Spanish/French/German/Italian -> English dictionary support. Does any currently available reader fit the bill? Thanks for your help. I think you would like the new Pocketbook models, since they integrate a throng of dictionaries, many of them "X to English" ones. The dictionaries in the Pocketbooks are quite easy to use as well.

Welcome to MobileRead
![]() The Sony PRS-650, which supports EPUB, PDF, Microsoft Word, TXT, RTF and BBeB formats, has ten bilingual dictionaries, including the four pairs that you want, plus two English dictionaries:

Thanks for the recommendations. Both the Pocketbook 360 and the Sony 650 look good, but I have been unable to find an article specifically comparing these two products. Is there anyone who has used both who can provide a pro and con comparison of the devices? My basic impression so far is that the pocketbook is a bit more flexible and has a few more features than the Sony. Does the Sony have any advantages which make it clearly preferable? Is the Pocketbook able, like the Sony, to show English translations of words simply by touching the word on the screen?

I agree with Boxcorner that the Sony PRS-650 and 350 are good choices. I have used the Sony for over two months now to read French, German, Italian and Spanish books and the dictionaries are really good. The advantage with the new Sony is that it has the new high contrast Pearl screen, and the dictionaries are built in. Once you have chosen your language, just tap lightly twice on the word and a window opens at the bottom of the page with the translation. With other ebook readers you probably have to install the dictionaries separately and you definitely cannot consult them with just two taps.

I have the PRS650, and the dictionary in the 650 is excellent. It responds very quickly and can expand into a huge page of definitions if you desire.
The hardware itself is also very nice. |

How about East Asian vs English?
Hi.
I read in English, Japanese, and Korean. Any suggestions for eReaders that are capable of using those three languages fully would be gratefully received, thank you. |

Hallo Matthew, if you won't get any answers here please ask your question again in the Pocketbook subforum (or use the search function there). English is no problem, of course, I think there are some forum members who read in Korean, if I remember well, Japanese I don't know.
