Fulcrum or TravelFlex?
Hi, guys!
I'm a proud owner of a Kindle 3 Wifi+3G. Firstly, I got the lighted cover. It's superb in terms of craftsmanship, however the poor light design (illuminates only half the screen) and the unreliable attaching mechanism made me return it. I bought this case: http://www.amazon.com/Incipio-Kindle...2416046&sr=1-2 Hopefully it will arrive within a few days. My next purchase is a portable light. I'm looking for a reliable, better than the illuminated case's light with approx long battery life, that uses AAA battery(ies), I need it to be lightweight so that it does not add too much bulk. I am bouncing between these two: http://www.amazon.com/Fulcrum-Multi-.../dp/B000ITGQXS and http://www.amazon.com/Mighty-Bright-.../dp/1935009362 I'd appreciate any advice from people who own one/both. Thanks. |

I have the lighted case for my K3 and I find it to be just what I need. With my DX I have to use an attached light and for me it isn't nearly as neat or handy, and the light it gives is about the same.
I've used the Mighty Bright, and it seems to me it gives about the same amount of light as the lighted case does, although it is more flexible, so you can position it more. I don't have the Fulcrum but I do have a light very similar to it, with a very long neck. That one works best with my big DX, but as I said I find that it shifts a bit and it's just more work. I like being able to fold the light back into the case completely. If they made a lighted case for the DX I'd get it. Don't know if this helps you any, but let us know what you find when you get your new case and setup. ![]() |

I have yet to find any LED light that will evenly and completely illuminate the entire screen - either on the K3 or the DX - so I use lights on a flexible neck (I think I have Mighty Brights now, or whatever fits into an M-Edge cover) - and reposition them as I read down the page.

I've got a Mighty Bright clip on light and the Amazon lighted case for my K3. I personally like the Amazon lighted case the best because it isn't bulky, and it does a decent job of lighting the screen. Using the Mighty Bright clip on is bulky and a pain IMO, and it really doesn't light the screen much better. Plus I get tired of feeding it batteries, even though the three AAA batteries last a long time. It is just much more convenient using the Amazon lighted case and not dealing with the bulk or with batteries.

I own the Lighted Case but use the Travel Flex. It is brighter, illuminates the entire screen and is lightweight, slim and runs on 1 AAA battery that lasts a long time. It weights practically nothing even with battery in and I had mine since 2009 and it's still going strong.
I got mine at my local B&N for $12 ![]() |

I love the Oberon cases for my Kindle 3's. They are the best I have seen.

Thanks for the replies, guys. It seems USPS does not recognize my address and my case is under "undelivered" status.
![]() I hate dealing with postal services. Now they will probably return my case to the seller and I have to contact them to send it again. But to what address, since I have only 1, and it is correct >.> |

After some hassle I got the Incipio Kaddy. It's great! I recommend it. What got me buying it in the firs place was the attaching mechanism - rails. All controls are accessible, it looks stylish and the whole thing looks sturdy.
I think I'm going to go with the travel flex. I want less bulk, so I will trus Blossom ![]() |

I prefer doing what I did with paper books and turn on a room light. If that can't be done, I use a 2-LED headlamp. Lights the Kinlde perfectly. Okay, it looks a little weird but so does reading a book.

Agree. Actually the best light is to sit near a north facing window during the daylight hours. On my desk I've got a small lamp with a 4 watt 30-LED bulb. The Kindle screen background looks almost white when using this light. But it is definitely not portable!

Guys and gals, I am happy to tell you that finally my setup is complete!
Kindle + Incipio Kaddy + MightyBright TravelFlex It turned out to be successful! I highly recommend this setup! If you think that the Lighted cover illuminates sufficiently, try the TravelFlex and you will forget about the built-in light ![]() |
