Alternative to Stanza?

By the looks of things, Stanza development has stopped so that pretty much eliminates the only reason I still stick to iOS.

Now, I'm tasked with finding an alternative to Stanza on the Android platform. Here are some of the features I'm looking for:
  • ePub support
  • able to access to OPDS catalogs (e.g. Calibre, etc)
  • brightness, margin, font face & size adjustment
  • able to choose themes (e.g. night mode, etc)
  • able to display metadata (description/summary) contained in ePub/OPF
  • category/collection view based on ePub/OPF <subject> tags
Any suggestions? Thanks!

Aldiko is pretty good and actively supported. I am not sure it meets all your requirements but worth a check.

Thanks. Aldiko and Moon Reader are on my apps to try. Not sure what others might be available.

Give Mantano Reader a try. There's a 7 day trial app.

I second this recommendation. I used the trial app for 5 days, liked it a lot, and ended up buying the full version of Mantano.

But Mantano does not support OPDS (unless I'm missing something). Other than that, it looks great, with annotations/highlighting, etc.

Is there any way with Mantano to reduce the brightness below what the system slider supports? (As you can with Moon+). Even at minimum system brightness, it is still far too bright to comfortably read at night. (And it isn't just a matter of changing the colours it uses, the black in Mantano is brighter than the black in Moon+)

Make sure you check out CoolReader and FBReader. Both have options up the kazoo.

Thank you for all the suggestions. Just tried a bunch of readers (Aldiko, Cool, FB, Mantano, Moon+) last night. Mantano is by far the best among the bunch. In fact, I'm liking it much more than Stanza.

It doesn't support OPDS but I could always download content using a web browser. The only reason I needed OPDS support was because that's the only way I could get metadata description/summary with my ebooks in Stanza - not an issue with any of the Android readers I tried since they can all read and display the description from the ePub/OPF just fine. Mantano feels much more polished overall. Rendering is also the closest I've found to ADE and Stanza (the others had some layout issues). Liked it so much I bought after 30 minutes of playing with the trial version. I have to say, it's well worth the $5 I paid for it.
