How do I return a Overdrive Audio Book?

I checked out an audio book that was only 3 hours long. Now that I am finished with it I would like to return it so the next patron can have it. But I am unable to figure out how to do it, Does anyone know how to return it early? Thank you |

Audio books cannot be returned early; only Adobe EPUB and Adobe PDF books can be returned early. So you're stuck with it till the expiry date. To alleviate this problem I generally choose a loan period of 7 days for audio books.

You can return ebooks early but not audiobooks or videos. You have to wait until they expire from your account., My library recommends that you select shorter lending periods for audiobooks if you think you'll be finished with them early.

I'm a member of the Singapore library, where is there an option for a shorter borrowing period? Have I just not noticed it or is there no option?

I've decided that I don't really like the Overdrive audio books, there don't seem to be enough markers for me. When I get them on CD there's a marker about every 3 to 5 minutes which is fine, the Overdrive book I'm listening to at the moment has 29 chapters and 8 parts, and I only seem to be able to be able to move between chapters and parts.

yes, I don't like the Overdrive versions. They're broken up into one hour segments, roughly. I suggest Audible.com. Most of the books that are on Overdrive are there, with the same reader. But, of course, not free. OTOH, better formatted and easier to use, IMO. |

One thing I prefer about the Overdrive versions is that the book will continue through all the parts automatically from whatever point you started at. With the audible audiobooks, it tells it's been "broken into multiple parts to make the download faster" and then you have to go back out and start the next part manually.

Given that I'm very mean about spending money on books which is why I use the library so much, I think I'll just borrow audio books from my local library rather than Overdrive. Especially given the inability to return early. I guess there will be exceptions if it's something I can't get locally.

Actually My computer allows me to Stop & start in the middle of chapters!! My WMA clip does not UGH! So it depends on what you use to listen to them!

I use an older iPod shuffle with Overdrive audiobooks since I listen to them while I workout. It's great for the small size, but it can be a pain to find your place if you lose it since the segments are so large.

Guess it depends on your setup. I listen to them on an old 2nd gen Nano and just put all the parts (usually there are two or three) into a playlist. Then it just plays from part to part until the book is finished.
