Help, the eink side is no longer responding

Just when I had scoped out a stylus to buy to replace the one that is missing, I found one of my old stylus pens and decided to try it out. The eink side is no longer responding to 'touch'. It will open up journals, books, etc, but it won't 'read' anything I try to input by touch. I cannot use the buttons to move through a document either. I turned it off/on several times. Took out the sd card, tried to do a reset, tried to recalibrate (won't accept my touch to recalibrate), turned it upside down (it does). I did a reset, (not sure if I was successful, I didn't see anything different, the thing just turned off and I turned it on again?) I bought it from WOOT, I'm guessing there is no refund policy. Anyone have any ideas? It's the pocket edge, by the way.

It's your stylus. I learned from this group that it must be a pen-able stylus, else nothing works. I didn't believe it until I tried it.

You can chill out now .

Well, I don't see how it is the stylus because the one I am trying to use is just a regular stylus (that is shaped like a pen), not penabled or anything, but should have the same effect as the one that originally came with the pocket edge?

I have a regular one and it only works on the lcd side. Won't work with the e-ink side. Until you get one that is "pen-able", you won't be able to use the e-link side. I think it has be say pen-able or wacom compatible.

no, the one that came with the edge is full of electronics that make it work with the e-ink side. It is intentionally done so you can write on the e-ink side with out your hand activating the touch sensors when it brushes against it.

reply #17 from this link should clear up the difference between your stylus and pen-able pens

Ooooh, I do feel foolish then. I thought the one that came with it was basically just a 'stick' it didn't seem technical at all. And to top it off, woot responded and said they were sending me a new one and I could send mine back. Now I will have to do all those updates and stuff all over again. Me and my impatience!!

You're not the first to make that mistake and I very much doubt you will be the last.

What is inside is why they cost so much.
